We continue to introduce a special course on Roma mediation. On September 6-7, 2017, a two-day training session "Mediation as a form of social work with the Roma minority" was held in Kyiv under the ROMED-2 program.

The training was held with the support of the Council of Europe in cooperation with the National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Drahomanov. Teachers from different regions of Ukraine, namely from: Zaporizhzhya, Zakarpattia, Odesa, Kirovograd, Khmelnitsky, Kiev regions were invited to participate. These teachers will offer a special course for students, future specialists of social work. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, noted that the implementation of the Special Course on Roma Mediation in 8 universities of Ukraine is a significant step for the institutionalization of Roma social and medical mediation. "From my point of view, this topic is extremely relevant, because our country is multinational and it is extremely important to pay attention to the needs of national minorities. Mediation technology helps to establish a dialogue, helps to establish contacts, helps to achieve the mutual understanding that is so necessary today in our country. This special course is interesting because it is very diverse, it is educational, it helps to overcome stereotypes and helps to learn more about the history, culture of Roma and gives an understanding of how to apply this knowledge in the work of social specialists", said one of the participants of the training, Olga Lysenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Social Work of Odessa National Polytechnic University. #ROMED.
